Reaction Games is a father-and-son wargaming studio founded by Andrew and Jacob Shaw. From their workshop in East Sussex, they combine historical research, game design and 3D modelling to create WWII miniatures and tabletop games, made to be handled, painted and played.

A Shared Love of History and Games

Andrew’s fascination with modelling and military history started in childhood, building Airfix kits and discovering the worlds that could be recreated in miniature. During his time studying history at Canterbury University in the 1980s, that interest grew into a lasting love of tabletop wargaming, strategy and their communities.

Years later, Andrew introduced those same interests to his son, Jacob. They played tabletop wargames and digital games together, found a shared love for the history, strategy and imagination behind them.

Jacob went on to study Digital Games Design at the University of Brighton, developing specialist skills in 3D modelling and digital design. He returned to their shared hobby with the skills to turn the vehicles and scenarios they had once talked about into original models. Reaction Games grew from one generation passing on a lifelong interest, and the next finding a new way to develop it.

Researched and Designed Together

Every Reaction Games miniature is developed by Andrew and Jacob.

Andrew leads the historical research, drawing on period photographs, reference materials and his understanding of military history and historic objects. Jacob turns that research into 3D models, balancing historical accuracy with scale, printability and practicality.

They created Traverse, their own WWII-inspired wargame. Together, they developed the rules, designed the miniatures and tested the game, refining it through play and conversation.

Reaction Games grew from the belief that models should bring historical depth and enjoyable gameplay that invites strategy and imagination.

Process

  • 01. Printed to order

    Once your order is placed, your miniature is 3D printed using high-quality water-washable resin. Depending on the size and complexity of the model, printing usually takes 3-6 hours.

  • 02. Cleaned by hand

    The main printing supports are removed by hand before the model is placed in an ultrasonic cleaner to remove any residual resin and fine particles.

  • 03. Inspected and cured

    Each miniature is individually inspected, allowed to dry naturally and then fully UV-cured to create a clean, stable finish ready for final preparation and painting.

  • 04. Finished and packed

    Once the model has been cleaned, cured and checked, any required magnets are fitted or included with the order. The miniature is then packed and dispatched within 1-2 business days.
