What is Traverse?

Traverse is a brand new 15mm wargame set in WW2 (compatible with other scales). Traverse is designed to be fast and fun, with vehicle stats based on their real values.

Activation

In Traverse activation is random for each player, each activation. Taking turns starting with the attacking player, each player draws one token. The number shown on the token tells you which groups of units can activate that turn, creating a proportional system that makes tactical decisions important. You never know what will happen next.

Shooting

In Traverse you form a pool of dice to be your firing solution, rolling all of them together to see if you have hit your target. This can be done using the specific traverse dice or a set of standard d6.

Factors such as terrain, enemy movement and angle to target affect your chances to hit the target and not be deflected.

Once a target has been hit, compare your guns strength to the targets armour protection, adding a chance factor from your dice roll to represent lucky shots or weak points. If the gun strength is higher than the armour the target is destroyed.

When shooting at infantry no roll is made (except for high explosive), instead an infantry unit that takes fire accumulates a number of ‘combat readiness’ hits equal to the value of the incoming fire. As this value increases the infantry unit gets progressively more suppressed and eventually gets routed, if you can concentrate your fire effectively.

Objectives

Traverse is based around control of the battlefield. Depending on which parts of the table either player controls, based on if they are the attacker or defender, they gain victory points. The player with the most victory points wins.

A tactical ‘simulation’ of world war 2 battles, Traverse is quick and easy to play but with infinite choices and chances to gain victory for your side.
